Stewart has directed and choreographed many productions including: Bar Mitzvah Boy (Gatehouse); Cinderella (Crewe Lyceum); Love Birds (Pleasance); Business As Usual (Everyman, Cheltenham); The Jewish Legends (Radlett/Gatehouse); Free As Air (Finborough); A Spoonful of Sherman (St James Studio); Gay’s the Word (Jermyn Street/Finborough); Lunch With Marlene (national tour); Hetty Feinstein’s Wedding Anniversary (New End); Beatlemania (Gothenburg Opera House); South Pacific (Birmingham Symphony Hall/BBC Radio 2); Over My Shoulder (national tour/Wyndham’s); Carousel (St David’s Hall/BBC Radio 3) and the premiere of Charles Hart’s Love Songs (Bridewell). He has also worked in various drama colleges and staged six pantomimes for Hall for Cornwall, Truro. Choreography includes: Iolanthe, Princess Ida and The Mikado (Buxton Opera House and national tour); Cowardy Custard (national tour); Noël & Gertie (Cockpit) and Tim Rice’s revival of Blondel (Pleasance). Stewart has restored and archived many forgotten musicals by major British writers. He has lectured on musical theatre, has written sleeve notes for various recordings, and is a contributing author to The Oxford Handbook of the British Musical.
